The Mascaras You Need In Your Life And Why

When you pick up your mascara in the morning, do you ask yourself the same questions I did? Are my lashes going to stay curled all day? If there's wind, is it going to run? If you do, this post is for you.

I spent what feels like years looking for the right product for me and there were a lot of things I wanted out of it; I wanted something waterproof, I didn't want clumps, I wanted a wand that wasn't going to scratch my eye and I wanted something that was natural.

Now, that's a lot to ask out of one mascara and that was fine so I settled for four and in this post I'm going to tell you why they are the ones I always reach for and the ones I go back to time and time again.

First up is Maybelline's Lash Sensational and boy, what a brilliant mascara it is. I've been using this for well over a year now and I love it just as much as the first time I used it. It makes my lashes appear so long and separates them really well. The wand is comfortable to use and I find it easy to get to every lash. I use the waterproof version for that extra security and truthfully this is always my summer holiday mascara so I know first hand that the waterproof claims are true.

Next up is another Maybelline number. This time it's the Falsies Push Up Angel - As soon as I saw the adverts for this, I knew I had to pick it up. I was a fan of the Falsies Push Up Drama so, as all of us beauty junkies do, I wanted to see how it compared. I have to say I much prefer this one. It's easier to use, allows for optimum separation and just makes my lashes appear so fluttery. The wand was a little hard to get use to but nothing a few days of wearing didn't solve.

If you've been following me for a while or if you've seen my Christmas make-up post, you'll know that I'm a huge fan girl of Benefit's They're Real mascara. As I mentioned in that post, this mascara nails two crucial things for me. It's waterproof and it's lengthening. In the same way as the Lash Sensational, the wand makes it super easy to reach every lash but much like the Falsies, it can be a bit painful without some practice.

Last but definitely not least is the newest mascara out of the four. It's L'Oreal's Miss Baby Roll. I have to say, I love this. I was a big lover of the Roller Lash from Benefit in it's heyday but I just felt like it was lacking something. - this mascara goes way beyond it and more. It's a more 'roller' style wand but it really allows me to roll the product from the base to the tip so that my lashes always appear lifted and well coated. Like the Lash Sensational, I use the waterproof version.

I would, in future, like to branch out towards more higher end mascaras but I think, while I can get everything I want in drugstores there's no point. Also, you may have noticed that I always pick up the waterproof versions of mascaras but that's because, why wouldn't I?

I'd love to know what mascaras you love and why. Let me know in the comments!
