Attempting To Perfect No Makeup, Makeup With Glossier

Attempting To Perfect No Makeup, Makeup with Glossier
I'm in search of the perfect no makeup, makeup.

I don't mean perfect as in flawless, I mean perfect as in it works and it looks great.

I've tried a heap of different products from tinted moisturisers to BB creams, even CC creams and 'weightless' concealers but no matter what I slap on my face, I cannot for the life of me, achieve that effortless look of no makeup, makeup.

Since my drugstore searches had been a damn right disaster and I had more and more products finding their way to the back of the draw, I knew it was time to search elsewhere. There was one brand that stuck out like sore thumb but despite the rave reviews from beauty fanatics everywhere, I just couldn't get on board. That was until, I watched a video from Patricia Bright

Patricia's videos are some of my absolute favourites because she tells it like it is about every single product. There's no fads or bullshit, she's informative and to the point. In her 'Trying Out Glossier' video she was trialing some of Glossier's most popular products and the more she talked about them blending like water and being incredibly dewy, the more sounded right up my street. I'd heard it all hundreds of times before but coming from Patricia I knew it was legit, so I placed an order.

First into my basket was the Perfecting Skin Tint which I'm currently in a love hate relationship with. I love it because the coverage is exactly what I wanted. It's sheer, natural looking and matches my skin perfectly. It's also super easy to blend out with your fingers and add more to build coverage where necessary.

The problem I have with this skin tint is, if my skin hasn't been exfoliated that day, it is so difficult to work with. On days where I don't exfoliate ie. 5 out of 7 days a week, it clings to dry skin that I swear wasn't even there and doesn't blend out properly. I don't want to change up my skincare routine by suddenly exfoliating every day and driving my skin nuts, I also don't want to add dollops of moisturiser which I've found actually doesn't help the blending process that much anyway. I like it but it's not a solid win just yet - Hopefully in the summer when my skin is more hydrated, I'll like it even more.

Next I picked up the widely talked about Stretch Concealer. Based on Patricia's experience with it, being quite oily and movable, I thought this would be great for my under-eye area. I sometimes have problems with concealers being too drying but I was pleasantly surprised by this. It has a lovely amount of coverage and blends seamlessly into my skin. I do find myself having to set it with powder because it creases quite quickly but other than that, I love it. It's not as sheer as I thought and it quite comfortably covered small blemishes and darker patches around my nose.

Overall, besides the need to exfoliate every time I use the Skin Tint, I'm happy with these products. I think I'll still keep on the look out for other 'No Makeup' products but for now with these offering a sheer and natural base be good for the summer months.

Have you tried any products from Glossier? What did you think?

What I Looked For When Buying A Pre-Loved Bag

What I Looked For When Buying A Pre-Loved Bag Alexander Wang Rockie
If you've seen my Twitter or Instagram story lately, you'll know that I made a little designer purchase. After years of lusting after it's sibling, the Rocco, I finally took the plunge and purchased an Alexander Wang Rockie.

I've had my eye on these bags for years - no exaggeration. They were the 'it' bag a few years ago with a cool handful of celebrities carrying them every so casually. Now I'm clearly no celebrity.. I'm just a regular gal with a regular income, an obsession with beauty products and an unhealthy prosecco habit so with all of these things combined, I knew I wasn't going to be getting a brand new one  anytime soon.

Then it hit me - Why didn't I just buy the bag pre-loved?

I'd watched quite a few videos on this subject, especially from the likes of Lydia Millen and Clare Chanelle and then, after reading an informative blog post that Chase Amie had written a few years back, it seemed to be the only way I was going to be able to firstly even afford the bag and secondly, justify spending the money on it.

Throughout the whole process I really wanted to make sure that I was spending my money wisely and on something that was legitimate so I thought I'd share what I looked for along the way.

Get to know the bag & specs First and foremost, I really wanted to take a closer look at the different finishes it came in. I took a look on the Alexander Wang website at what the sizing and leather was like on models and then took to Youtube, blog posts and sites like Purse Forum to see what people thought. As I mentioned above, I originally wanted a black Rocco with rhodium hardware but after scouting around first off, they are bloody huge and secondly, I couldn't actually find a bag with those specs so who knows if it even existed. I've always known I wanted pebbled leather but in the end the black Rockie in nickel was more up my street.

Setting spending limits Not only was it January - aka the longest month ever - when I bought this bag, I also don't really have the funds available to be spending money so freely. I worked out that at that moment in time, I could realistically afford to spend up to £300 which is way over half of the retail value and not to mention a complete bargain in my eyes. Though £300 did still seem like a lot of money, since I'd decided that I wasn't going to buy a bag that was scratched, without a dust bag or without complete authentication I figured it wasn't as much as it could have been. It turned out to be quite a stretch but after weeks of searching, I finally found one.

Research various websites Throughout the search process, I probably didn't look on as many websites as I could have but my first stop was always going to be Vestiaire Collective. Vestiaire is such a popular website for buying pre-loved goods and the fact that they authenticate everything before shipping it seemed like a win. I checked the site every day for what I wanted and although there were so many great options, I decided that if I couldn't get the one I wanted then I wasn't going to buy one at all. I also checked websites like TheRealReal and Depop but ultimately I found what I was looking for on eBay.

Confirming authenticity As I mentioned above Vestiaire authenticate all of their purchases before shipping so eBay isn't always the best option since you can't guarantee that what you're buying is legitimate. I made sure that the one I picked had all of its tags, receipts and a dust bag etc before bidding and my bag actually came with not only all that but also the tags from when it was previously purchased through Vestiaire so if I ever decide to sell it, I'll have them to pass on. The seller was also super helpful with all of my questions but if it ever goes wrong, they always have Buyer Protection.
What I Looked For When Buying A Pre-Loved Bag Alexander Wang Rockie

Overall, I'm so unbelievably happy with my purchase. It's exactly what I wanted and although you can tell that it's been loved, it's still in excellent condition. I'm so glad that I waited until the right one came up because I know it's a bag that I'm going to get an insane amount of use out of - Truthfully I'll probably never take it off.

If like me, you're trying to decide between the Alexander Wang Rocco and Rockie, rest assured that the Rockie is the perfect size for everyday use and the zip fastening isn't as awkward as I initially thought.

I'd love to know if you've ever or would ever buy a pre-loved designer bag? What kind of things would you look for? I'd love to know ahead of my next purchase!

I Put Benefit's BADgal Bang To The Test & Here's Why I'll Be Repurchasing It

I Put Benefit's BADgal Bang To The Test & Here's Why I'll Be Repurchasing It
I'm fresh back from a forest walk after putting the new Benefit BADgal Bang to the test for the third day running. I don't know about you but from the second I heard there was a new release right up until I watched the last few Instagram stories from the Maldives, I couldn't WAIT to get my hands on the new launch.

It turned out to be a new mascara. A new mascara promising weightless but voluminous lashes that can be layered with ease and still be smudge and waterproof. The claims were out of this world (see what I did there?) so I ordered the BADgal Bang not 5 minutes after its announcement because, for my own sanity, I just had to know if they were true.

On Friday, I made sure I didn't wear mascara to work so that when it arrived, I could try it out straight away. Before I even began to apply it, I noticed the changes Benefit had made to the wand - Unlike the Roller Lash and They're Real mascaras, this wand is soft and flexible. It's a conical shape and just the slightest bit thicker at the base so it coats the outer lashes with ease. A big tick from me.

I was curious about the layering claims since whenever I layer mascaras, it leaves my lashes looking spidery. BADgal Bang dries down relatively quickly considering the formula is quite wet so I tested it while it was still tacky on one eye and when it was completely dry on the other. Unfortunately in both cases, I only managed two layers before my lashes looked absolutely ridiculous but even after two I found that my lashes didn't feel heavy or lose volume. When it came to removing it that evening, it removed like a DREAM. Very little rubbing, no tugging and no black eye stains. Amazing.

On Saturday morning, I took my newly voluminous lashes to the gym to see if it really was smudge and waterproof. Even my current fav waterproof seems to transfer a little under the eye after half an hour on the treadmill so I wanted to see for myself if it was true. Just as I'd hoped (and a little to my surprise) it actually didn't budge at all. I'd even rubbed my eyes just to give it a little nudge and apart from a few flecks falling onto my cheek, there was nothing else to report. Unbelievable.

This morning, it was the final straw. There was no way that this mascara was ticking almost every box so I had to go bigger - I took it outdoors. My other half thought it was absolutely crazy that I was gearing up my lashes for a forest walk but I had to put it to the test. It was cold, windy and sunny all at once and truthfully my eyes felt like they were taking a beating. I was wiping away tears from the bitter wind for the whole hour on the walk but when I got back in the car, my lashes looked exactly the same as when I left. I gave up - There was nothing this mascara couldn't do.
I'm absolutely in love with this mascara at the moment and it's definitely one to try if you haven't already. I'd love to know your thoughts on it because I can't quite believe how much Benefit have nailed it. I'll definitely be purchasing the full size when this mini runs out!
